Some comments from guests who stayed at the Bel Poggiolo

We are all settled in after our wonderful long journey in beautiful Italia. It was such an incredibly special trip to be able to stay in your wonderful home and to meet Eleonora's charming father. Thank you for very much all the special considerations.

Just a short note to say hello, soon it will be a year since our travels to Beloved Italia! I miss being there and have often reviewed the pictures that I took home from Spoleto. Every time I look at them, I am amazed that I was able to spend two weeks in paradise. I think of making the difficult choice of whether to sit on the front verandah or behind the house under the tree based on the heat of the day, running the 5km route around Poggiolo -- quite lovely, though I'm sure the neighbors thought we were a bit crazy -- climbing that first hill comes to mind in particular which took my breath away more than a couple of times. Shopping in town, and drinking coffee on the piazza in the late afternoon. Ahh, the good life -- it's in the hills of Umbria!!! I am so very grateful that I had the trip to Italy -- I needed to escape and rejuvenate at the same time -- looking back it was a blur, and at the same time full of much clarity, and peace. So glad I had that journey and those healing memories.

We loved Poggiolo. The location was magical. We did much of walking. Ivana and her family were friendly and helpful. Simone's enthusiastic ability to speak English was helpful since our command of Italian was limited. Further, a man from their house gave us 2 bottles of homemade wine and an older woman lent me a light bulb and invited me in for coffee. We felt welcome in "the neighbourhood." I loved your writing that was left for us at the house. I read everything cover to cover. The history was helpful. I was intrigued with the theory of the beloved country and thought of the pull of places as we toured. I particularly loved the side yard by the kitchen and spread a blanket under the tree to read and relax. It was an appealing view through the door in the kitchen to the yard and also from outside in through that door. My point is that Poggiolo held wide appeal and was pleasurable to this diverse group. We all share a love of Italy but have different economic situations. The house was well suited for all. It provided a welcoming base for our various adventures. Thank you and best regards,
Kathy

We loved your home and the area and could have happily spent a few more weeks. We guess that in the stairwell photo gallery your family is on the left (going up) and your wife's on the right, but we wished one or both of you could have been there to share family stories with us. I can understand how you would find that house a good retreat for writing, especially early in the day when the mist lies over the valleys and makes every view a little mysterious, and then again around sunset, when colors are so dramatic. Thank you for making it available to us. Yours,
Susan

We enjoyed our stay in your wife's family house. I've leased a house in Italy more than a dozen times, and I've never experienced such lovely views. Being close to Todi, Montefalco, and Trevi--to say nothing of smaller places--was a real advantage. Sincerely,
Carole Tabor

The house in Umbria, which I stayed in in March, is situated in an incredible location...on one side of the valley...from this position you can see Spoleto, Trevi, Spello, Monetfalco... and as well as see these towns, you can access them by car in a matter of 15 to 20 minutes. Perguia is 30 minutes drive...Assisi is 20 minutes. So, you have access to all of Umbria. A fantastic location. The house itself is perched on top of a hill with a large expanse of yard, and olive groves beyond. On the porch is a nice table from which meals can be taken, and the views of the mountains, flora enjoyed. It is difficult to accurately describe how beautiful the views are...out of every window is a breath taking scene...the vistas are all around you...at 360 degrees. There is a very nice sitting area and beautiful dining table on the first floor, accented with antiques, books, drawings and paintings. The kitchen has a table for taking breakfast, fireplace, large frig, stove. The bedrooms are very comfortable, and the bathrooms modern. As hosts, you take great care in making sure that your guests are comfortable. This is a unique situation.

Spectacular time in an even more spectacular location. Refreshing villa with all the comforts of a new home incorporated in a charming old world facade. The views are sensational, the proximity to interesting day trips infinite, and the feeling of being at home away from home everlasting. Sincerely.

The farmhouse itself was a wonderful building and the baths and kitchen were great. The location was a little less rural than what I had envisioned but I was probably comparing it to the rural area in which we come from. The night lights in the Valley as seen from the house were absolutely beautiful. Please thank everyone for helping make my parents stay a success. They have brought back many stories and memories. I also thank you for your patience as it pertained to the alarm.

As we book our vacation this year in Italy, we look back in fondness at our stay at your house in Umbria. The location is excellent and the addition of a pool will go a long way to satisfying most clients. Your furniture is fabulous but can be a trifle hot in the summer. All the best
Andrew
